IMA Passing Out Parade – 14 December 2024

The Indian Army inducted 456 new officers during the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, today. The grand event, held at the historic Chetwood Building drill square, was reviewed by Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, General Ashok Raj Sigdel, who saluted the newly commissioned officers.

The parade, symbolizing discipline, dedication, and pride, left a lasting impression on all present. As the cadets took their Antim Pag (final step), they officially joined the ranks of the Indian Army. Among the 491 Gentleman Cadets graduating, 35 were from friendly foreign nations, further strengthening international military bonds.

Gentleman Cadet Jatin Kumar was awarded the prestigious ‘Sword of Honour’ for outstanding performance. Other top honors included the gold medal for Gentleman Cadet Pratham Singh, who ranked first in the ‘Order of Merit,’ the silver medal for Jatin Kumar, and the bronze medal for Gentleman Cadet Mayank Dhyani.

Meanwhile, at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal near Hyderabad, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, presided over the Passing Out Parade of over 200 flight cadets from the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and Coast Guard, along with one officer from a friendly foreign nation. This event marked the commissioning of the first batch of Weapon Systems Branch officers into the IAF.

Addressing the graduating officers, Air Chief Marshal Singh described them as future leaders and commanders who would shape the destiny of the Indian Air Force. He encouraged them to embrace the significant responsibility of their roles as a source of motivation and to uphold the core values of mission, integrity, and excellence.

During the ceremony, the Air Chief Marshal conferred the ‘President’s Commission’ on the trainees and presented wings and brevets to the newly inducted officers, symbolizing their readiness to serve the nation.
