Navy Day – Commemorated or Celebrated?

Indian Navy Day is observed on 4th December every year to commemorate the success of Operation Trident during the Indo-Pak War of 1971. On this day, the Indian Navy launched a highly successful attack on the Pakistani naval base at Karachi, dealing a significant blow to Pakistan’s naval forces.

  1. Date of Operation: The attack was carried out on the night of 4th December 1971.
  2. Objective: To target Karachi Harbour, a crucial port for Pakistan’s military and economic activities.

    • Indian Navy deployed Osa-class missile boats, armed with long-range anti-ship missiles.
